Figlio di primo letto di mwcgTelefo, re della mwcwMisia (regione confinante con la mwdaTroade), condusse insieme al fratello mwdqTirreno una migrazione dalla mwdgMisia in mwdwEtruria. A lui è attribuita, insieme a Tirreno, la fondazione della mweadodecapoli etrusca, il cui nucleo centrale fu mweqTarquinia, che da lui prese il nome (mwegTarchu-na in lingua etrusca).cite-ref-straboneitaliav2-2-1-0[1]
Egli appare nellmwga'mwgqmwggEneide come capo di tutti gli Etruschi e alleato di mwgwEnea nella guerra contro mwhaMezenzio e mwhqTurno, dove abbatte il giovane tiburtino mwhgVenulo cite-ref-2[2]: l'episodio in questione è stato immortalato in un'incisione di mwiwBartolomeo Pinelli (mwjamwjqLotta tra Tarconte e Venulo).
